HFAW also sensitizes the community against FGM through market flees since the launch of its first popular education training in 2014. It has also collaborated with the National Anti FGM Board to sensitize the community through road shows on importance of abandoning FGM among the Abagusii community i.e. Kisii and Nyamira county. HFAW uses these events in multiple ways. For example the 2016 walk served as an avenue to raise funds for our economic empowerment fund but also urdging the community to elect leaders of integrity in 2017. These events are most effective because HFAW and its community activist are able to reach large numbers of people with anti-FGM and other messages.
